Introduction

Bharatpur Rotary Club was chartered on 10th September 2003 from Rotary International (RI) and was sponsored by Chitwan Rotary Club which is 7 th club of Nepal. In 2003-2004 this Club was having 26 charter members however in 2022 / 23 this club is having 51 members with 5 ladies. This Club is composed of Businessman, Professors, Engineer, Medical Doctors, Extensionist , Auditor, Hoteliers, Managers, Poultry entrepreneurs, social workers, tourism, Bankers traders, Journalist, etc. Bharatpur Rotary Club is having two RCC, i.e. at Kot Tandi, Danda, Nawalparasi and second one is at Charghare, Ichhakamana , Chitwan. It has sponsored two Rotaract Clubs such as Rotract club of Bharatpur and Rotract club of Bharatpur Height. There are two Interact Clubs i.e. Interact club of Small Heaven Model School Chhetrapur and Interact club of Adikabi Bhanubhakta Madhamik Vidyalaya. In addition , Innerwheel club of Bharatpur is also established by the spouses of Rotarians of Bharatpur on 2011.

Major Service Projects : Two District grants and two Global grant projects have received from RI District 3292 Nepal and Bhutan and Rotary International respectively.

1. District grants
a) Strengthening Deaf education in Shree Lower Secondary School in Birendranagar Bajarhatti Chitwan. Total cost involved in the project is Rs. 158.025.
b) Training on mushroom cultivation in RCC Charghare, Chitwan. Total expense of this project was Rs. 177, 000.

2. Global Grant Projects
a) Child day care center Narayangarh, Chitwan We have conducted a GG project # 1641340 on Child day care at Narayangarh Chitwan. Rotary Club of Bharatpur RI District 3292 Nepal Bhutan in association with Rotary club of Stockholm Djurgarden, Sweden RI District 2350 is conducting Global Grant Project on “Child day care center in Narayangarh Chitwan Nepal” since the end of 2016 after the approval of the project on Sept. 22, 2016. The award amount was USD 39,500/-.and the duration of the project is 3 years. The teaching at day care center was started since Feb. 01, 2017. This project has given significant contribution to the deprived children of this area. Children learned the importance of hand washing after visiting the toilet and before the meals. They are also trained on Painting with water color, playing sand , drawing etc. We improved the children listening , creativity and vocabulary with storey telling in every week. Children have learned English, maths and numbers and improved some vocabulary. Day care center have changed the life of the deprived children. Properly use of books and stationeries was also learned by the children.

B) Global grant VTT project

Global grant 1862792 has been accepted by Rotary International on the beginning of 2018 and the duration was of one year. Ping Chen Landseed Rotary club Taiwan is the principle sponsor of this project. The cooperating organization is Land seed Healthcare Jugedi Chitwan Nepal. Rtn. Dr. Hsu has coordinated this project from Taiwan. The total amount of this project was USD 34, 000. The purpose of this project was arranging training of 11 Nepali health workers in Taiwan on ultrasound and maternal health practices. The maternal health of this area is improved.

C ) Global grant project, Dangisharan drinking water project,Dang

3) Rotary Mukundeshwor Senior Citizen Adult Day Care Centre

RC Bharatpur started Senior Citizen Day Care Center at the Mukundeshwor Mahadev Temple , Shivaghat on July 2018. About 50 to 60 senior citizens having more than 65 years age are enjoying this service. Bharatpur club has provided musical instruments, constructed separate toilet and daily tiffin in the afternoon. Health Check up in every 6 months are managing in this center. This has given a good environment for the elderly people to spent their time in the afternoon.

Trainings:
RC Bharatpur trained Miss Amar Devi Mahto in ANM from RCC Kottandi who is presently working as the Health worker in that region. Similarly RC Bharatpur supported a person to go to India for the Study of BN from Kamala Devi Naturopathy Center.
Following trainings were conducted by RC Bharatpur:

• New Member Orientation training
• Off season vegetable farming –in Debauli, Ratnanagar
• Goat farmings to women’s group at RCC Kottandi
• Embroidery training to RCC, Kottandi
• Fish farming training to women’s group at Kathar, Chitwan
• Self dependent training to female prisoner of Bharatpur Jail.
• Mushroom cultivation at Charghare, Chitwan

Free Health Camps:
Free health camps were organized in different places such as Mentally disabled school at Fulbari Chitwan, Aghauli Danda Nawalparashi, Bridhhashram, Devghat Heart Screening camp at Adikabi Bhanubhakta School, Narayangarh, Child day care center etc.
Similarly Free animal Health camps were organized in Devchuli Nawalparashi, NTNC Saurah etc.

Tree plantation
This program was managed in Kamala Devi Naturopathy center, mentally disabled school in Fulbari, RCC Kottandi, RCC Charghare, Jakadi Mai School,Aama ghar Manahari etc

Fellowship and Night stay program
Family visit and night stay program was organized in Bandipur, Ghale Gaun,Bhujung, Home stay program, Aghauli Amaltari, Home stay, Madi, Ghandruk, Hotal Barahi, Meghauli, Kasara Resort, Kasara etc. Rotary Gajal Sanjh with Ananda Karki was also organized for fund raising.

International visitors in the club
International visitors from Japan, Sweden, Taiwan, Spain, Germany, USA visited our club and are assisting in different activities. Dr. Nanda Praksh Joshi and his spouse have contributed ( 10 Lakhs each) to our signature projects

Contribution to the Rotary international and participation in RI convention
Rotary year 2019/20 is the special and historical year for the contribution to the Rotary Foundation which is around USD 35, 000 and 100% PHF club. Nearly 15 Rotarians have participated in the RI convention held at New Orleons, Lousiana, USA, Bangkok, Thailand, Atlanta, USA and Hamburg, Germany.

Sister Clubs
RC Bharatpur is having twinning relationship with RC Patan Durbar Square and Ping Chen Landseed Club Taiwan. Three Rotarians of RC Bharatpur Visited Ping Chen Landseed Club Taiwan and explored the activities of the club.in the year 1918/19.
T-E-A-C-H program:
RC Bharatpur has adopted Jakadi Mai School for this program and initiated various activities for the improvement of the school. We are planning to increase the number of students by upgrading this school a Happy school.
Challenges of RC Bharatpur
RC Bharatpur is a young and vibrant club of RI District 3292, Nepal Bhutan. We are involved in a number of service projects at these moments but having said that we would be interested in any project proposals doing in the Chitwan Valley of Nepal following a possible community assessment exercise. The challenge before RC Bharatpur is Membership increase which is around 55 at this moment which should be increased in the days to come. The sustainability of our two signature projects is also another challenge to this club.
